Exam Preparation and Review

Begin your preparation for your final exam by looking at example exams.  The grade 8 and 9 school-wide exams follow the format of the grade 10 provincial exam although the content is grade appropriate.  This means you will be asked to do similar kinds of tasks, but will read grade appropriate material and be marked at your grade level.  Similarly, the grade 11 school wide exam follows the format of the grade 12 provincial exam but is adapted to a grade appropriate level.   Find grade 10 and grade 12 exams at the following link.

Electronic exams—exams written entirely on a computer—are available during some exam sessions.  There are practice grade 10 and grade 12 E exams   available as well.

Did you notice that the example exams had answer keys?  Practice writing one section of an exam at a time.  Make sure you follow the amount of time suggested for the section you choose.  Once you have finished your response, look at the answer key.  Remember, though, that the exam markers will be looking for more than accurate content in your responses.  Your writing ability is also part of each section’s grade.

Look at the description of the provincial exam.  These descriptions give you a detailed list of what the exam markers will be looking for.
