Include embedded quotations as evidence or proofs for the claims you make. 

         Embedded quotations are          integrated into the sentences          you write, rather than being          plopped in on their own.

 

Text Box: Narrative Essay -  hook sentences


The following are opening sentences from students’ narrative essays.  Which are good hook sentences in that they engage a reader making them want to read further?
How brave are you?  Would you do something ridiculous, absurd, or even dangerous just to say you did?
