Technical

Ø Double space
Ø Leave two spaces after each period, one after all other punctuation, and no spaces before punctuation
Ø Cite all secondary sources of information, ideas, or quotes. You can use endnotes or footnotes
Ø Type in 10 or 12 point sized font
Ø Underline the title of all books, place quotation marks around the titles of short stories, plays, and poems
Ø If you leave an extra space between paragraphs then do not indent.
Ø If you do not leave any extra space between paragraphs, indent.
Ø Justify your margins on the left but leave the right margin ragged.

Style

Ø Do not use first person pronouns such as: "I," "you," and "we."
Ø Do not use generalisations.
Ø Do not use contractions.
Ø Do not use slang.
Ø Do not use colloquialisms.
Ø Writing should be clear, concise, and efficient.
Ø Do not rely on spell checkers.
Ø When making a statement make sure the "why?" and "so what?" are addressed.
Ø Use Canadian spellings
