|Why do some people consider Vikings bad people? Well one big problem was that the Vikings literally took every thing they could possibly ever need or wont in their entire life (stealing). Besides, that one of the biggest, meanest things the Vikings did was kill people like bloodthirsty animals. Before each raid they would chew on something like a frog leg to make themselves go mad to create an invincible feeling, for example when they felt the need to go killing…with no cloths nor armor, these people were called “the berserkers”. The berserkers were the ones that made the good old Vikings look worse than they really were, why? Because the berserkers are the ones that did the entire stealing and killing witch is all that people tend to look at. You might be getting the impression that berserkers don’t have much to do with Vikings. Its like this, when you say the word Viking you usually always think of the people I just told you about “the berserkers” the ones that have their bloodthirsty animal behavior. But when people say Vikings when they know what they are talking about they could be talking about: the farmers, blacksmith or just free men.|
||Because of these people living in Scandinavia (northern Europe)
it could get freezing in the winter, so because of that the “berserkers”
only raided during the summer and sometimes the spring. So that meant that
they built their new ships in the winter and the fall, but if it was snowing
or something was happening with the weather they would work on it in their
shop that was in their house.
The Viking longboat still sails in our ocean today, where? Well people that have sailboats or even fishing boats have some relation to the Viking longboats that were used long ago.
Some other things the Vikings did to make our world what it is today was since one of their gods was named Thor in our language means Thursday
|A Vikings daily life was pretty long compared to us today, they would need to get up quite early like right at the crack of dawn. It must have been somewhat hard for them because of living in a pretty dirty house to live in also because they didn’t have coffee or anything like this. So when they were up and about they might go round up sheep or goats or something like that. If they were Danish Vikings they most likely had hogs (pigs) to take care of for a little while before they did much of anything else, but this was when the other family or siblings would come in handy for them. If it was the summer the man might be helping build a longboat for the season.||
Now if it we were talking about a woman in the Viking age then it was quite
a bit different for them. The lady would do just as much work as the man
but a bit different. They always had a long string hooked on to a broach
that went all the way down their dress; they would keep things on it like
a key and a comb and when their husband was away they would hold on to their
keys for them while they were an a trip to a different country, or if they
went on a voyage across the sea.
For the children of the Vikings, they would do lots of stuff like small and big jobs such as going to get some food or milking a cow for the milk. The children had big responsibility’s to do around. If it were a girl, she did things around the house including a bunch of cooking and maybe even some weaving to make rugs or cloths. If it were a boy, then he would have some harder jobs like helping around the farm and with all the animals. No matter who you were life could get pretty hard at times.
