Journalism, at Courtenay Middle School, is open to students in both of our grades (7 and 8). Each month a group of students is assigned a specific page of the paper. One student is selected as editor. The editor assigns the other students duties to complete the page. Our paper is done in both print and web format.

The other responsibility of the journalism class is to produce the school yearbook. This book will be published in June. We anticipate the cost of our hard cover book to be about $25.

Our journalism class meets during a floating block in order that all students may have the opportunity to participate. Journalism students must keep up with their regular studies as well as completing their journalism assignments. For that reason, students require the approval of their classroom teachers before joining the journalism program.

Students interested in being part of the journalism program should contact Mr. Bawtinheimer.  The program is open to students in both Grades 7 and 8.
