Cordillera Huayhuash

The Cordillera Huayhuash lies north of Lima and not far from Huaraz. There are some magnificent mountains, glaciers and lakes. Towering mountains over 6000 m like the Alpamayo and the Yerupaja can be found here. The Yerupaja also formed the background for one of the most amazing mountain-survival histories ever written: Touching the Void, by Joe Simpson.
