Cordillera Blanca

A few hundred km north of Lima is the Cordillera Blanca, one of the world's most popular mountaineering areas. Cordillera Blanca is a National Park. Mount Huascaran is Peru's highest mountain. The whole area is dominated by superb mountain ranges, glaciers and glacier-lakes like Laguna de Llanganuco. In the Cordillera Blanca lies one of the most famous mountains of the world: the Artesonraju (6025 m). Well, probably you've never heard of it, but for sure you've seen it, unless you never watch movies...

The city of Huaraz is the centre of the Cordillera Blanca and a good starting point for trekkings and excursions.
