Puno

Puno, capital of the department with the same name, has a population of about 80,000 and is situated at the shores of Lago Titicaca, at an altitude of 3830 m. For that reason the climate in Puno has its extremes. During daytime it can be very hot, but at night the temperature can drop below the freezing point. The city itself may not be very interesting for travellers, the environment is magnificent.
