Nazca

Nazca is situated in the department of Ica, on the shores of the river Nazca. It is a quiet desert town with a population of about 50,000. The dry valley is irrigated by an ancient pre-Inca aquaduct.

The fact that this system is still in use today, indicates how sophisticated even the pre-Inca cultures of Peru were. Other evidence of this statement can be found just outside Nazca, where the famous Nazca lines are laid down on the desert.
