Barbarians!
Social Studies 8 (Madame
Staicu and Ms. Jerome)
Mission:
1. In groups of 3-4, choose a barbarian tribe
you would like to study and represent.
2. Search the Internet for the following
information on your barbarian tribe.
a) Where they originated and what territories
they conquered (where they settled).
b) Who they fought against and any major
battles (victories and losses).
c) How they changed life in the former
Roman Empire.
d) Describe any famous individuals/leaders
(e.g. Attila the Hun).
e) 2 interesting facts about their society/culture.
3. Based on this research, create the following:
a) A list of facts about your barbarian
tribe (2a-e).
b) A colourful and attractive emblem to
represent your tribe. You may use Corel Draw 8, another graphics program,
or scan in your image. Create a motto for your tribe and incorporate it into
your image.
c) Develop a chant or "war-cry"
for your barbarian tribe that will strike fear in the heart of your enemies.
d) Create a website using Dreamweaver that
has links to your facts, emblem, and chant.
4. Present your barbarian tribe to the class.
Criteria:
1. Accurate and detailed information (list
of facts).
2. Attractive, informative, and representative
emblem that includes a "catchy" motto.
3. Engaging, informative, and representative
chant.
4. Informative and interesting presentation
that has been well-rehearsed.
