BASIC OPERATIONS:

• I type at least 20 words per minute and correct my mistakes without looking at the keyboard.
• I can use a variety of multimedia accessories (e.g. scanner, digital camera) under the supervision of my teacher.

LANGUAGE ARTS:

• I can gather information from the Internet and from electronic encyclopaedias on a variety of topics.
• I can use the information that I gathered to answer questions or develop questions and activities for other students in Microsoft Works.
• I can create a Kid Pix slide show, HyperStudio presentation or PowerPoint presentation for other students to view to learn about my favourite author and why I like his/her work.
• I can create a "Choose Your Own Adventure Story" as a HyperStudio or PowerPoint presentation.
• I can present my stories and/or poems in the form of a Kid Pix slide show, PowerPoint presentation or HyperStudio presentation.
• I can create an autobiographical web page with information about my accomplishments and goals.
• I can use email to write to pen pals in another country.
• I can help create a class newspaper or annual using Microsoft Works, Word or Microsoft Publisher.

MATH:

• I can use stamps and shapes in a paint program to demonstrate my understanding of improper fractions and mixed numbers.
• I am able to show equivalent mixed numbers and improper fractions using stamps and shapes in a paint program.
• I can create a number line in a paint program and use stamps and shapes to compare and order improper fractions and mixed numbers.
• I can create angles in a paint program and label them as acute, right, obtuse, straight or reflex and label them in relation to 90 degrees.
• I can use a paint program or Tesselmania to demonstrate my understanding of translations (slides) and reflections (flips).
• I can use a spreadsheet to create a graph with ordered pairs in the first quadrant and can analyse the results.
• I can create number patterns in a spreadsheet using formulas and change numbers to see what happens to the pattern.
• I can design a questionnaire in Microsoft Works to collect data to be presented as a graph.
• I can present my data in a variety of different kinds of graphs using a Microsoft Works Spreadsheet.
• I am able to calculate the frequency and average scores in a Spreadsheet and I can analyse the data to make comparisons and test predictions.

SCIENCE:

• I can develop a classification system for animals and sort the animals into their classifications in a database.
• I can research the human body's immune system and how it fights diseases using the Internet and electronic encyclopaedias.
• I can create a brochure in Microsoft Works, Word or Publisher to explain how a disease attacks the human body and what we can do to defend ourselves.
• I can use the Internet and electronic encyclopaedias to research the history of flight and/or space exploration and the universe.
• I can present what I have learned about the planets in the form of a Kid Pix slide show, a HyperStudio presentation or a PowerPoint presentation (e.g. postcards from the planets).

SOCIAL STUDIES:

• I am able to use the Internet to research current issues affecting Canada.
• I can use the Internet to research the United Nations human rights initiatives and help me understand global citizenship.
• I can research various countries of the world using the Internet and electronic encyclopaedias.
• I can create a travel guide brochure in Microsoft Works, Word or Publisher to show what I have learned about the country that I studied and incorporate pictures from the Internet and from Encarta.
• I can use the Internet to gather information about different country's mortality rate, population growth, land mass, settlement patterns and resource consumption.
• I can create a database with information about various countries.
• I can use the information about countries that I have collected to create a spreadsheet and graph and I can analyse the graphs and write a summary report about my findings.
• I can use a paint program to draw a map of a country that I researched and I can add a legend and symbols.
• I can present the information I have gathered in the form of a Kid Pix slide show, a HyperStudio presentation or a PowerPoint presentation using sounds and recording my voice.

PERSONAL PLANNING:
