Introduction:
Religion
is one of the cornerstones of civilization. Historically, religion had a significant
impact on shaping our world and currently, continues to greatly influence the
world around us. As the global community continues to shrink and become more
interdependent, it is extremely important for people to become more aware of
one another’s spiritual heritage. Increased knowledge of one another’s religious
beliefs, fosters tolerance and understanding which is critical for global peace
and understanding.
Many
cultures illustrate and teach their religious beliefs through their folktales,
myths, and sacred writings. In essence, “A traditional story is to a culture
what a window is to a house”. Your assignment is to "open a window"
on a world religion by writing a narrative that promotes and illustrates its
fundamental beliefs and practices.
In
order to effectively write an informative story, you will need to research information
and read narratives from your chosen religion. You will be writing your religious
story based on this information and present your tale on HyperStudio. By illustrating
the main beliefs of a major world religion through a story, you will be gaining
and promoting a greater appreciation of this religion.
