STUDYING CANADA’S SYMBOLS

In this lesson students will use the Internet to research the origin and meaning of some of the symbols of Canada and a little bit of Canadian culture.

      Photocopy this worksheet for your students (careful, the answer sheet is at the end).

    3. In the computer lab or on your home computer, students log-in then enter the Internet and type in the address:

    5. Students follow the instructions on the sheet provided and write their answers down.
    6. Have students mark their own sheets and discuss the answers with them as you go through them.

EXTENSIONS:

-You could have students do a follow up project using their answer sheet and the other information they find at the web site by making a poster to advertise Canada.

-Students could use the stamps in Kid Pix or use PowerPoint to create a slide show about the symbols of Canada.
