Welcome to the Comox Valley International Student Program!
This year Lake Trail is pleased to be hosting 2 students in Grade 9 from Korea and Mexico. While some students are at Lake Trail for a short stay, some come for the entire, while others continue onto Vanier and through to graduation. This year, Lake Trail will be hosting 10-12 Korean students for 6 weeks in January. These students will work with an English Language Teacher for half a day and then will buddy with Lake Trail students for the afternoon, attending classes. The international students are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of the school, including extra-curricular activities such as sports teams and clubs.
During their time in the Comox Valley students are given the opportunity to take part in many field trips. These include whale watching trips to Tofino, day trips to Victoria, as well as hiking and skiing at Mt. Washington. While attending Lake Trail, students are placed with a host family in the Comox Valley. By living with a local family, students are able to get a true feel for the Canadian way of life. In return, the host family is given an opportunity to learn about another culture and build an international connection of their own.
