Important MyEducation BC Information
By now you should have received an email with a user name and generated password to access the MyEducationBC Parent Portal for your son/daughter attending Vanier. Logging in is often the most difficult step, because you will have to reset your password – and there are many requirements to a valid password. It must have 8 or more characters - uppercase & lower case letters, a symbol and a number… and then be changed every 90 days. After that step, setting your security question will seem easy.  The first time you log into your account it must be done from a laptop or computer.  Using a phone is frustrating and you will get locked out if it is the first time accessing your account. Here is a great video for walking parents and students through logging in for the first time, and many of the features available to both user groups -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmvA0FqrWEU#action=share MyEd allows you to check your son or daughter’s schedule, report cards, teachers’ name and email, attendance and current grades for teachers using the gradebook to track their marks. Much of the information is on the front page when you log in. Current progress in classes can be seen on the academic tab, usually with a blue balloon and mark. Clicking on the blue hyperlink for each current class shows the categories for the class. On the left side of the screen, “assignments” becomes visible. By clicking on the assignment link, you will see any assignments the teacher has made public, as well as any scores currently published by the teacher. A nice feature of MyEd is that if you forget your password, it has a link that allows you to reset your password automatically on the log-in page. MyEd will send a new password to your email, easily allowing you access to your account.  Please contact Julie Shields at julie.shields@sd71.bc.ca or Greg Kochanuk at greg.kochanuk@sd71.bc.ca if you have questions about this program.
