Schools Opening for Instruction Monday, September 22, 2014

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As you may be aware, BCPSEA and the BCTF have reached a tentative settlement in the labour action between the two parties. It is expected that ratification of the agreement will occur over the next few days.

Schools in the Comox Valley will open on Monday, September 22, 2014 for students. We will follow the normal opening format that we use at the beginning of every school year:

Monday, September 22, 2014:

  • Elementary schools will open at the regular time and dismissal is at 11:45 am.
  • Secondary schools have modified schedules for this day. Please consult the appropriate secondary school website for grade by grade opening information.

Tuesday, September 23, 2014:
  • Elementary schools and Secondary schools first day of full classes for all students.
    *Kindergarten students may have a graduated entry.

School Bus Schedules, Transportation and Bus Passes for 2014/15:
  • Monday, September 22, 2014 regular morning pick-up. Elementary school dismissal will be at 11:45 am; all other schools will have dismissal two hours earlier than the usual times for your school.
  • Tuesday, September 23, 2014 regular morning pick-up and after school drop off as per the regular school year schedule.

Schools have varying start up times so please visit the school district website (www.sd71.bc.ca) or contact schools directly for accurate information.

We are looking forward to moving into the new school year. There will be appropriate adjustments to the provincial examination schedules, semester dates, etc., from the Ministry however, the Ministry will not be adding additional days to the school calendar. Further information will be available soon.
